Baseball is my favorite sport. It always will be. And basketball will always be second.

But you are absolutely wasting your breath if you ever try to convince me that the NBA isn't home to the best athletes on the planet.

I want to talk about this dunk contest, because it was outstanding but I think Gerald Green got hosed. Dwight Howard didn't even dunk it on the superman-dunk, he threw it in the hoop. He didn't get enough air to make it to the rim.

His last one was too easy. Green, barefooted, going through the legs, was stronger I thought and the birthcake was the best dunk of the night, in my opinion. (I thought it was funny, GG offended those veterans by signing his shoes and handing them to the judges).

No one is really going to talk about it - because it was such a good show - but GG deserved to win.

I did think Howard's last one was too easy. It was more creative than difficult.

I'd like to see Howard try the Superman dunk again.

You can make the Green argument and I won't fight you.

The judges, fans, and voters have spoken.

It was unanimous.

Yes, the Superman Dunk wasn't technically a dunk. But you'll see it every year for the next 10 years of dunk contest highlights.

Gerald Green didn't receive the scores he should have, but he certainly didn't deserve to win.

The dunk contest has never been about unbridled creativity or technical perfection. Its about electrifying the judges, fans and viewers.

Gerald Green: Exciting.

Dwight Howard: Electrifying.

Howard is a better showman. And a waaay better player. And a more likable guy. And does things that no 6'11" man should be able to do.

Upon further review, Howard's volley-to-himself dunk was incredible and I think gives him a larger collection of amazing dunks throughout the night than Green.

I totally disagree. Howard tricked us with the cape and the tape on the ground. It was just a gimmick and not even a dunk. The birthday candle needs to be viewed in slow motion to be appreciated. We shouldn't get caught up in the emotion of the crowd. Who had the best four dunks combined?

Tangent: Jason Richardson owns the best of the dunk of all time - off the backboard, threw the legs. As far as pure atheleticism and technique, there hasn't been better.

damn your arrogance tj!!

that is a nice dunk that you're referencing, but i don't think it's that easy to name the best dunk ever. if i was forced to choose, i might choose one of vince carter's.

are you saying best contest dunk ever or best dunk period?
