So I was debating on whether to write something pretty serious, or something pretty light. Light wins. Tomorrow will be serious.

I saw something incredibly disturbing tonight. It was an NBC promo for Conan's shows in Chicago, and he was wearing... ::gulp:: ...a White Sox jersey. They showed a quick shot of him taking batting practice with the South Siders. I almost had a stroke.

I know, they're the World Champions so they're gonna get some pub. But seeing Conan O'Brien--my Coney--in a Sox jersey...a little piece of my soul was destroyed. I really hope they do something at Wrigley. You have to. It's Wrigley.

Speaking of Wrigley, I can't believe I haven't been to a game yet. I think it's been several years since I've gone this far into a season without watching my Cubs. But they're REAL BAD right now. Anything can happen though. I still choose hope.

Anna, Ben, myself

I never imagined that on May 8th, I would have been to three Chicago Rush games and zero Cubs games. But I'm a simple man. When tickets are provided pro-bono, with a few social incentives thrown in, I'll be there. The above picture is from post-game at Ram.

By the way, I've got a small case of Schadenfreude for Tom Cruise right now, after M:I:III's disappointing take at the weekend box office. And this isn't a "I want a Scientologist to fail" thing. I don't root against people based on their spiritual preference. But his entire persona has become so arrogant and weird and creepy and condescending. I could go the rest of my life without seeing his boyishly handsome face and be fine with it.

And I actually didn't see my Sopranos tonight (don't tell me what happens)...so Monday night will be a gauntlet of Jack, Tony, and the ladies. I likey!!

You're certainly not the only one on the planet who'd be none to sad if Tom Cruise's career just quickly fades away. But the truth is, MI:3 is a really good movie, and some people aren't going to see it just because Tom Cruise is in it. And Tom Cruise is going to continue getting really good roles in really good films for some time to come. What's unfortunate is that some people are potentially going to stay away from really good movies they'd otherwise have gone to.

As far as MI:3's opening weekend tally is concerned, why isn't anyone mentioning how poorly liked MI:2 was, and how that maybe, maybe had something to do with it? Garfield 2 might stink up the box office, but I don't think its because people hate Bill Murray.
