I'll catch crap for this. But I don't care.

I'm rediscovering my love for Mariah Carey. That's right. Mariah Carey.

Mariah makes me think of high school. And I wasn't the biggest fan of high school, but I still get sentimental thinking about those years.

Many of her songs bring back memories and emotions...and I can usually picture myself listening to specific songs at specific times.

I don't know what it is lately, but I'm listening to her again. Maybe I'm feeling sentimental about my high school years. Maybe I'm just feeling sentimental about Mariah Carey.

And whether you like her or not, I don't think there's much debate about how incredible her voice is. I don't know much about vocal technique or anything, but I can't imagine a note that she couldn't hit.

She's also had quite the comeback this year. It wasn't long ago that she was a laughing-stock. She made a movie that has become legendary for how bad it was, she made odd public appearances that brought the state of her physical and mental health into question. And this year she had one of the best selling albums of 2005 and regained her credibility.

There's probably some of you that are thinking "she's really whored it up over the past few years". Well, if you read this post, you know how I feel about those thoughts. Seriously, the WWJD thing is so overused it makes me nauseous, but would Jesus really call a woman a whore? I'm guessing not.

Anyway, I just wanted to share my re-dedication to Miss Carey.

"My All" is one of my favorite Mariah songs ever. It brings me back to my sophomore year of high school and memories of a girl I had a major crush on. I love this song. Don't steal it. In fact, never steal any song from my blog ever. Pay the $.99 you cheapskate.

(Sound quality suffers a bit. I'm sorry, Mariah)

I get the alicia keys obsession, she is probably the most talented female artist out there. But, I dont see it in Mariah. I find her music a little to whinney and her high pitches make my ears bleed. But, thats what makes America so great "love it or leave it". (can you tell I am surrounded by Farmers?!?)
(seriously me!)

To Ms. P :
There are worse things out there ... take the Chicago Bulls/Their cheerleaders; both equally comical in their own right.

To Mr. Anonymous:
"Oh buddy?" Anyone who starts off with "Oh buddy" can't be in a much better situation than Mariah herself. Jes got it right. A little ridicule, some personal opinion, but never ... ever ... "Oh Buddy."
