My 2005

What a surreal, life-changing, inspiring, vulnerable, and unforgettable year.

We know the biggest (and worst) thing that happened in my life. And it happened relatively early in the year.

Years from now, I don't think there's any way I'll be able to think about 2005 without thinking about Laurie Boncimino.

And I still can't think about her without making an effort to convince myself that one of my closest friends really committed suicide. I probably sound like a broken record when I say that I'm still in a state of disbelief...but I am.

I'm trying to think of how I can break down this year. So I'll just talk about the biggest things that happened to me personally.

>>Landed a new job at a church in Libertyville after somehow working 11 LONG months at my friends mortgage company. I love my friend, I liked the people at the company, I wasn't a big fan of the job. Needless to say, the chance to work at a church doing media stuff was a nice (and needed) change. VERY GOOD.

>>Upgraded from helpless '98 Kia Sephia to '05 Honda Civic. JOYFULLY GOOD.

>>Emergent Conference in Nashville. Spent time with close friends, ate tasty BBQ, and engaged in spiritual conversations that stretched, fried, and contorted my brain. GOD GOOD.

>>NY, NY. Traveled with my friend Matt to see the Cubs play the Yankees and take in a city that we'd never seen. WHIRLWIND GOOD.

>>The Overnight. PAINFULLY GOOD.

>>Enzo, Carter, and Jack (who I still don't have a picture of, CS). ADORABLY GOOD.

>>White Sox win the World Series. JEALOUSLY BAD.

When you break it down like that, it kinda looks like a pretty good year. How deceiving.

Let's just call it an emotional year and leave it at that.

Goodbye 05.

Hello 06.
