This is what I'm talking about!!

I just posted about Christians labeling secular artists as sluts, and here's a prime example. This is from a Christian group called The Resistance. To read the entire article, click here. These are the people I completely want to distance myself from at all costs.

A Christian group ‘The Resistance’ is calling for Jessica Simpson to re-shoot her video for ‘These Boots are Made for Walking’ featured on the new Dukes of Hazzard movie being released August 5th 2005. In the music video, Jessica Simpson dances like a stripper, grinding her butt on old men, and kisses Willie Nelson. “She should be ashamed of her self” says John Conner, spokesperson for ‘The Resistance’ and author of ‘The Resistance Manifesto.’

“It’s disappointing to have Jessica, a pastor’s daughter and Christian role model, join the ranks of the ‘singing strippers’ such as Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera” explains Connor. “She has one of the most beautiful voices, and is a very beautiful girl, but it’s sad to see her whore her self out like this. What’s worse is that pastor, Joe Simpson is Jessica’s manager, as well as her father.

‘The Resistance’ is calling for the video to be re-shot in taste, and an apology issued by Simpson “She took a classic like the Dukes of Hazzard, and Daisey Duke, and turned her into a slutty, stripper with a fetish for old men.” says Conner.

Also, in the lyrics Jessica makes a reference to "These double - D’s" as she grabs her breast, and says "can get a hand clap for the way I work my back" as she shakes her butt. Lyrics NOT in the original Nancy Sinatra song. Simpson added them to ensure the sluttyness of the video.

At the end of the video she prances around in a bikini while washing the General Lee, just like the recent Paris Hilton Carl’s Jr. commercial which received much criticism for being to raunchy.

Simpson was one of the last remaining female MTV icons who is extremely beautiful but maintained class. Now that class has been flushed down the toilet.

Conner also gives some advice to little sister Ashlee. “I hope Ashlee doesn’t follow suit and sell out her self respect later in her career. Brittany, Christina and others came onto the scene somewhat innocent, and then turned up the sex appeal to the point of becoming very slutty and distasteful.”

Dookie...

I hear ya, pimp. It is frustrating to be, in some way, associated with people so quick to cast judgement. I choose to disassociate myself away from the conservative-select and morality police.

I read the article. For risk of casting the same judgement, those folks are kooks. I didn't know whether or not to laugh or be scared; ultimately, I believe I opted for laughter. Sick, man, sick.

While The Resistance has a right to state how they feel, they're over the top calling Ms. Simpson a 'singing slut'. It's uncalled for, especially coming from so called 'Christians'.

And we wonder why the "secular" world has such a negative view of Christians....

Dude, I literally just spit my beverage! What in the sam hell is that supposed to mean?!? Read your Bible?!? Is that like "yeah, I totally agree with you, and God's word demands we not judge each other" or "read your Bible, Drew, because it'll tell you that if you don't like the way somebody dresses then God wants you to call them names." Boy, I hope I didn't miss something...or maybe I hope I did!
