Recently I was talking to a friend who is away at school and she asked if there were any answers as to why Laurie made the choice that she did. I tried to give her an answer, but I don't have one because still nothing makes sense to me. I told her about the shitty way Laurie was being treated by certain people, and the disapproval a lot of 'loving' Christians expressed to her about her engagement. Still, I'm not satisfied with that answer. Then again, I really dont see what choice I have. I think I'm going to have to accept that there are some things we will never know for sure. There are a lot of questions that just won't be answered. I hate saying that...but I think it's true.

In the conversation, my friend mentioned that one of the reasons she (my friend, not Laurie) stopped attending Student Impact and quit hanging out with people from church is that she felt so pressured to live in a holy way by the very youth group that was supposed to be a safe place for her. THIS IS A PROBLEM.

She also mentioned that she was pretty much told what people she should and shouldnt hang out with...she said even a parent never went that far. THIS IS A PROBLEM.

So she left.
And so would I.

Don't tell me what to do. Don't tell me to pray. Don't tell me how to live. Don't hold me to your set of Christian morals.

You wanna shove Bible verses in people's faces? I got one for you...

"Do not judge, or you too will be judged."
Matthew 7:1
